Capacity-Building Workshop on Community Mobilization and Climate Risk Management for North West Councils

A 3 days’ capacity building training workshop of some 7 councils of the NW Region took place at the Santa Council hall on the 14th, 15th and 17th of April 2026. The theme subject of the training was on the mobilization of communities through the creation and or revitalization of village/neighborhood committees, self-climate risks assessment and self-identification and prioritization of community needs. The councils concerned by this training are those of the batch of 31 councils of the CISG financing window and include BELO, ELAK, FUNDONG, JAKIRI, NDOP, NJIKWA and TUBAH. Participants were drilled on the different modules by staff of the Regional Coordination Unit of PROLOG NW and those of the Technical Assistance Firm YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAMME(YOP). Modules such as the Creation and or revitalization of village/neighborhood committees, self-climate risks assessment and self-identification and prioritization of community investment ideas were dispensed to participants.
The Technical Assistance in charge of Procurement also drilled participants on procurement procedures related to sub projects of PROLOG.
Participants at the training were made up of 3 council staff from each of the councils, the Regional delegate of MINDDEVEL North West, the Technical Assistance Firm for the elaboration of Community action plans, the Technical Assistance Firm for Procurement and staff of the Regional Coordination Unit of PROLOG North West.
At the end of the training, an action plan was drawn up on the organization of the training of Coordinators of village and neighborhood committees and some community leaders and the organization of village general assemblies during which sub project ideas will be identified and prioritized
